You sure have the right idea. But watch out for hybrids. There are a few 9/6 machines that "clip" you on 2 pair by returning only even money. This costs you a lot.
Many players prefer the Double Bonus versions though they do not pay back quite as well as a true 9/6. The "bonus" machines offer a chance for a better short-term pay on aces thru fours. This may be more fun for a short-term player. Long-term or frequent players will do better on a true 9/6, but with fewer thrills.
